Hey all,

For a few years now I keep getting a P0455 code when the weather starts to get warm. It appears for a month or so, then goes away. The problem is, this is right around the same time as my yearly emissions test.

In the past I have replaced the gas cap, and the rusted line that runs form the carbon canister to the tank.

I have looked over the whole system, but beyond having a smoke test done I'm at a loss and don't want to just start replacing parts. My concern for the smoke test is the problem is intermittent, and I don't know that I'll get an accurate test.

Has anyone else ran into a random (weather related) large evap leak?

 

My leaks were never weather related (I don't think), but you can either build your own smoke machine (I had the heating element from a toaster and pressure regulator from a propane BBQ but never finished it) or just buy one (got it on Amazon). Found the leak immediately but had to move the generator to the back of the vehicle. I found the closer the generator is to the leak, the better results you get.
