Default P0340 and no start

Went out to start the jeep this morning and it just cranked and cranked, but wouldn't start. The check engine light was on. I scanned it and got the code P0340.

I checked the crank position sensor with a multimeter and it tested good.
I also took my camshaft sensor out and sprayed it down with some electrical connector cleaner, then reinstalled, still wouldn't start.

Any idea's? Is there a way to test the camshaft sensor before I buy a new one?

No cam signal at PCM, I would almost bet the cam sensor died, but there is always a possibility of a wiring problem.

Any way to check it with a multimeter like the crank sensor?

You cannot accurately check any of them with a DMM or anything, you need a scope. I think last one I got from dodge was $50 ish

The camshaft position sensor can be tested with a basic meter and a manual outlining the procedure. You do not need a scope.

Factory service manual is the best. Haynes and Chiltons make maintenance manuals, but they cover many years, are kind of generic, and have been known to have some errors.

Links to some sites that have manuals.

Didn't end up testing it, I just replaced it. Fixed the problem though. Got a new sensor from the dealership
