Default P0340 code

Whats the best way to test the cps? Im getting a code p0340. Jeep wont run unless i spray it with starting fluid. I thought a bad cps would not let the vehicle run at all.

That's a CAM sensor code, not a CPS code. "No fuel snyc."

Is there a way to test it to see if its the wires or the actual cam sensor

Been keeping this in my favorites just in case. Seems pretty straight forward.

If you read that closely, you'll see the cam sensor signal is for timing the INJECTORS, not the spark. The CRANK sensor times the spark and the distributor rotor sends the spark to the right plug. The cam sensor does tell the PCM which injector to activate however. This is the "fuel sync" part of the function. SO, you can have spark, but no injector power.
