Yeah, you can go to your local Napa or autobody supply store. Either store will probably carry 3M products & they should be able to shoot you in the right direction.. I don't recall the part # of the extra cut rubbing compound right now.

the turtle wax rubbing compound in the squeeze bottle works ok if dont mind spending a little more time than with the extra cut stuff in the jar. The bottle stuff is better if you dont want risk burning the paint. Just remember that the paint is thinner on the rounded areas if you use it on the rest of the vehicle.

not sure about that product. ask the guy behind the counter at the parts store they should be able to help you pick whats right for you. did you use a high speed buffer or hand rub? hand rubbing is nowhere near as productive as a mechanical buffer.

worst case, if rubbing compound didnt work the way you wanted it to you can always color sand it that is probally the more labor intense way to do it. there is lots of info on how to do that. Most are the same process
start with 600-800 grit paper and work your way up to 1500-2000 grit then finish with rubbing compound. follow this link see what if its something you want to try. http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ing+clear+coat

Just how bad is it? Even turtle was is pretty harsh. Good for faded paint, but if you've just got contaminants in the paint or a thin layer of oxidation a clay bar is much gentler and makes for great results..

Yep, clay bar is an awesome product, it always my 1st step of a detail. It does a great job of removing surface contaminants. But she mentioned oxidization... a clay bar won't fix that.
