Default Overheating as soon as I turn the jeep on.

Heres the story. I've got a 90 xj and never had overhesting issues. I go last week to pick up a small camper that I bought. Bringing it home my guage was in the red. I pulled over to let it cool and my coolant reservoir bursted. My wife bought me a new one. I fix it on the side of the road. I go less than a mile. And it overheats again. Tow it home. Unhook all radiator hoses shove a water hose in it turn it on and the water flows through the radiator just fine. Drain the oil and there is no water in the oil. Change the thermostat with new one put it all back together and instantly climbs to the red. I've got it all torn apart sgain about to change my pump. Question is I turn my pump wheel and it spurts out coolant does that mean that the pump is still good? The reason why I ask is because I cant figure out how to remove my freaking water pump and I'm getting pissed. I am completely lost here and fed up. Please help me before I take a wrench to the front of my 90.

What have you taking off so far ? Did you get all air out of system after instalking new bottle .You have a closed system set up this must be done or its gonna keep overheating.

actually, that's a crock.

Check this out from the FSM

This system does not have a radiator pressure cap. Instead the pressure cap is mounted on the coolant pressure bottle. System coolant flows directly through a fully pressurized Hot-Type expansion bottle. Coolant flows through the pressure bottle at all times during engine operation whether the engine is cold or at normal operating temperatures.

Larger coolant volume caused by thermal expansion during engine operation is absorbed by the expansion chamber in the bottle. Air trapped in the system is purged through the pressure cap vent valve during maximum coolant expansion..

Go to Napa and get a 703-1396 cap for your coolant bottle.

I found this in write-ups for a newer jeep.

Did you put the hole/vent in the T-stat at 12:00? When I fill my system with the front about a foot higher than the rear I don't have much trouble getting the air out.

A bad Head gasket can make it overheat quickly. (you did get it hot).

A quick test. Power-brake it with it full and the cap off. If it's really bad you will see bubbles (or a geyser) out the filler.

Also you always leave that expansion tank 1/2 empty so there is air in there to compress

There is a bolt that's sort of tough to see below the PS pump that you need to loosen before the tensioner bolt will loosen the belt.

The E-fan comes out easy with just two bolts...also remove the air cleaner.

I used to fill mine thru top hose into radiator until it flows out neck on thermostat housing then reattach hose. Fill pressure bottle about half way then start and add to bottle as needed .Bottle does not get filled to top room is need for expansion. Maybe burping as they call it here is the wrong wording.I never removed my sender to fill.
