Hey mine has always done the same thing, I just replaced my power steering pump and tightened my fan belt tighter that it was.
Now it is at 180, I tried everything before and I am thinking to check you fan belt.

LOL. I knew you'd like that. Thanks for prompting me to open the FSM and dig up some facts yesterday. For a minute, I thought me and my techs were just too dumb to notice that we were supposed to burp the system. Either that or lucky.

Ok so here's an update....

Got a new radiator (single row oem from autozone) turns out I have niether the time or cash to upgrade at this time (common problem in my life) plus I have to get the jeep back on the road. New bottle cap from napa and a new thermostat from napa (no local jeep dealer), new upper and lower hoses.
All of these will be going on this weekend (hope it fixes the problem) plus fixing the seat wobble..

Ok now for anonther question (still has to do with cooling system just the base model 89 not the limited). I'm putting a set of gauges in (oil, temp, amp) but the set I have needs 1/2NPT for the temp sender. Just woundering if anybody can think of a good port for this (I'm thinking of the block coolant drain)

THANK YOU ALL for all your help with this problem and for all the great info on this sight.

Cruiser you really need to write a book... Renix for Dumbies.... I would buy it...
