i replaced the t-stat and cap a few months ago it would do ok bc my bottle i did not know was cracked so it still over heated and nowi had a newer bottle on it was fine till the cap went bad and now im back to the 21 year old cap it did before i forgot to put that cap all the way on stop at about 200 bc i had a 160 degree t-stat in it. could it be my 21 year old radiator needs replaced? i will get the new bottle and cap if it still heats up i will put my 88s radiator in it see if that helps.

The closed systems are known for running warm. 200 degree's is normal for them.
I converted mine to an open systema nd it still runs around 200 it just easier to fill with coolant now. Everything is BRAND new in mine from waterpump to radiator and all hoses including the heatercore and heater hoses

ya it builds a lot of pressure enough to shoot off the cap and even make the bottle expand

if it is popping the cap/exspanding the bottle then you must definately have a head/head gasket issue
