Right now I'm working on getting a lift kit for my cherokee especially since I'm tired of the sagging tail end my jeep has. I've been talking with my dad about it and he brought up the problem with car insurance rates being raised and such with the new lift kit. So I figured I would pose the question here...
I was wondering if anyone on here who has lifted their vehicle has had issues with their rates being increased because of the supposed increase in possible rollover or because of any other reason. Can anyone chime in with their experience on this subject?

NOPE, my company didn't even care. I told them about all the stuff that was done and they told me it didn't matter. I have no idea why but he said that I could insure it for more money if I wanted. The only thing he told me to do if I didn't insure it for more money is to make a list of parts and there values as well as a picture of the parts. Then I would have a record if something were to ever happen. I pay around 70 bucks a month for almost full coverage. American National is who I have and I would highly recommend them. I don't work for them or know anyone who does by the way, its just a good company who treats you right.

I think it depends on if you want to insure for car value vs replacement cost.
Replacement cost would be higher since you have all the addons.
My Girlfriend is an insurance agent, but I didn't consult her for this.

i had a problem with one of my old insurance companys. they did not want to cover my lift and sound system when my first xj got wrecked. they said it was because i did not ell them about the upgrades. so i went to the companys wrecking yard to pull off my lift and deck, speakers and some other stuff. you know what every thing was loose like the guys at the yard had already started pulling stuff. when i get my new (old) xj done i am going to atleast tell my new agent and see what they say.
Yep, it just depends if you want it covered or not. If they are offering more coverage for your vehicle, than your rate will be higher, that is the way it worked for me anyway. You should itemize your mods in detail if plan on having them covered under your policy. That way if you have to make a claim, there are no surprises to the insurance company. If your just planning on PP & PD, then the lift & other mods will not matter. HTH!!

Thanks everyone for your experiences. I'm going to be checking with my insurance company soon so I'll post back with what they say. I just hope it won't make my full coverage rate shoot way up.
