You can see were the headliner meets the windshield that the right pass side is pushed down ...regardless of "too dark" you can see where I'm talking about in the pic

I'd pull out the old harness - no reason to leave it in there. If you still think it's being pushed down, try taping up the harness with guerilla tape (better than duct tape imo) - maybe re-route it so it's not on a support member.

thanks man! so if i re route it has to go farther into the headliner? like where it dips up?

you don't seem to like when people tell you the truth. the picture is dark, it's not even on the proper side of the vehicle. I can't see anything wrong in that pic, and that's an accomplishment given my 20/20 vision.

nope, don't have one...cause I sold the xj that I installed it on...I even had to switch the connector out from '98 to '99 on the body wiring, cross parts, and figure out how to make it work.

the wiring has little clips that go on to the main roof support up front. if they're not there, and it sits under that support, I could see the wiring popping it out.

i have it in the first support the lip that is closest to the window line, there is a set of holes that match up with the clips, i moved the wiring harness "smaller one" that was in the location that what appears the new harness should go in to. there is a 2nd set of matching holes about 4 inches back toward the back of the jeep, i put the old smaller harness in these holes...should i flat out remove the old small one? is there any reason to keep it? i assume its for the old dome light

the old harness doesn't do anything now. it's disconnected on top and bottom.

remove it, relocate new harness as far back on the lip towards the rear of the vehicle as possible.
