Not sure....haven't got that far yet. This will be more suited at you stated for 97 +. The EVIC I have coming came out of a Liberty...not sure what year....but I am going to have to lookup some stuff to see how to make it work.

The main thing will be how to mount it to the ceiling of the jeep.

I am not sure if you can plug in this item number and see what I got.

Wow 35 bucks seems to be a fairly good deal based on the other prices on ebay. That auction number did work by the way, thanks for the quick info. Let me know how it all works out, I've been thinking about trying this overhead console idea out for a while.

Since mine is a 2001 and has the Temp sensor pig tail inplace.....Does my BCM send the signal to my PCI bus?

No, The temp sensors on XJ's are wired direct you have a signal wire and a ground. These two wires run directly to the overhead console, the overhead is like a module it self in XJ's. KJ's and WJ's use a BCM and send the massage over the PCI bus wire.

I would just find an overhead out of and XJ at the junkyard and swap that in.

Well my Liberty Overhead console came in today...so I plan this weekend to do a test with the OBDII port...and see what I get. But I think I am going to have to put it back on ebay and go with a console from a 2000 or 2001 XJ.

I did some research on the OBDII PID's and one of the PID's is Ambient air temp and I saw a few on Tank status. But I still need to find more on this stuff.

My '97 ZJ Limited has the overhead console also. It doesn't have the info about open doors, lights out, etc, as that is shown on the lower console info center. And the three button garage door opener is on the visor. That unit might be easier to find and or hook up. My '04 WJ overhead console has the sunroof button, and the three button g.d. opener. Some of the WJ consoles were without the garage door opener, some had no sunroof, so their colors notwithstanding, there several option styles of consoles available for the WJ.

The one I got from Ebay is the big pic you have showing minus the sunroof switch. Guys says it came off of a liberty...don't know what year.

I plan to do a test...and see if I can make this work or not. If not...back to ebay she goes...and see if I can get my money out of it.

Would this help in hooking it up? Scroll down and it shows an alternative (cheap) way to install it. Including a wire harness mod. http://www.wjjeeps.com/evic.htm

Yeah I have that already...I just need to add wire to my pig tail and plug up to the OBDII for a test...and see if it will give me info.

After doing more research on my Jeep (01)...the Data port (OBDII) only has pinouts for # 3,4,5,6,7,11,16) Looks like it uses ISO 9141 type format. Pinout 7 is the K-line and what gives info. If I had a pin 15 it would be the L-line...but I don't. Not sure how to go about testing. I think I will have to go with a real XJ trip computer setup.

I will check this out a bit more......
