Default Overfilled trans

So I had a friend of mine replace the trans pan gasket, in the process he did not install the dipstick right and I have bee driving around with my trans about 2 quarts over for a few hundred miles. Did I do any permanent damage to my trans? Or am I worrying over nothing?

Dont worry about it.
Only thing that would happen is it will blow it out the dipstick tube if it gets too hot.
Drain the extra out, drive and be happy.

Uhhh yeah I believe if you have too much fluid in your automatic trans you can blow out a seal. Take off the trans cooler line coming from the cooler to the transmission again and let it hang. Start the engine. Let it run four or five seconds and it should dump some pretty quickly. Repeat till you have a good level. Good luck.

Yeah I am at a shop right now getting it fixed because I couldn't figure out where it was leaking from and they are the ones who told me about the fact it was overfilled so they are fixing it and making it right. I was just worried about whether I just made it so the trans was going to blow soon or something.

This was my understanding, however I'm not an auto trans guy. :/

I'm puzzled as to what seal(s) would blow? There's a vent tube on top of the tranny and the dip stick tube far from seals air tight (another vent). Fluid pressure is generated by the pump and the pump pick-up is submerged in the tranny pan sump (non-pressurized fluid) so why would the pump make more pressure just because it's pick-up is submerged a little deeper in fluid? Granted, the tranny should be correctly filled but I don't see it blowing a seal if it's a little overfilled. Another way to drain some excess fluid is to remove the tranny pan plug.

foaming from waayyy too much atf can cause the input and output shaft seals to blow. the car ive heard this happen in was in a 2nd gen Toyota camry. Perhaps it's a weaker design or something. And yes it's fine where it's at now dude. Just keep an eye on it
