over hearing issues

Default over hearing issues

whenever i go out wheeling my engine always gets super hot, not to like the overheating poing but like over 210. my friends jeep doesnt do this. what could be the issue or what could i do to help this problem.

Im having this Issue as well, I've replaced Water pump, T-stat, Heater Valve. Only thing I have left to do is the Radiator... Hopefully that solves it.

.....and the fan clutch. How about the shroud(s).....intact/in place?

The fan has some resistance when its off, and it has no fan shroud. Running out of things to replace haha

You need the shroud. It makes a world of difference especially when moving slow

i have a shroud on my auxilary fan but the shroud on my actual fan recentlly was torn off do you really think that would make that big of a defferance. i was considering hood vents or a secondary aux fan

Yeah the shroud really makes a difference in temp it's there for a reason

Yes that is there for a reason. As the mechanical fan turns it draws air through the radiator. You will notice that there is a pretty good distance between the fan and rad. Well the shroud acts a "funnel" if you will. It not only makes sure air is not lost by going around the fan, but also helps speed up the air. So without the fan you'll have air actually missing the fan. That means less heat transfer ability, meaning overheating while going slow or stopped. Also think about getting similar to Royal Purple water treatment. It will lower the water tension,making the water "slippier" to move about the cooling system and can also lower the temps by up to 15 degrees

Ahh lube for the antifreeze... lol. Ill do the compression test find out if I have a cracked head, if not I'll buy a fan shroud then go from there. Thanks guys

even if you dont offroad anymore, you should still pick up the fan shroud, it makes your engine life easier, as it doesn't run as hot and takes less time to cool down

A correctly functioning fan shroud insures air in front of the rad is pulled thru the rad. The fan clutch "spin test" is unreliable at best. For slow speed driving, all cooling system components MUST be in top notch condition.

this forum is on spot today. the fan clutch works that when it gets to a certain temp, then it stops free spinning and allows the fan to keep up with the motor, and the fluid inside the clutch allows this to happen. when you run without a fan shroud, the clutch heats up much faster, and hence wears out sooner due to seals failing from constant intense heat to the clutch itself, and all the fluid starts to leak out. a failed or failing clutch is a very common problem to overheating, also the spin test is a horrible way to tell, as the fan is usually cold when done, and not practical. the easiest way to tell is get your motor to operating temp, and then rev the engine a few time quickly to 3000 rpm's, then let off the throttle, you should hear the fan spin up and sound like a wind tunnel, if so it is working.
