Outter oil pan seal?
I'm replacing the RMS and oil pan gasket on a 2000 xj. I don't have a picture, but there was a brittle rubber seal around the outside of the oil pan at the rear. It was in between the oil pan and transmission, it goes around the rear arch of the pan, and is held in by the two very end bolts of the oil pan (closest to transmission). It's a steel band with the rubber around it, which broke off. I'm trying to find out the name of this and it's purpose and if I'm able to purchase it alone if it has to be in a kit.
