I only know the earlier, but say a 97 would not need a return line with it's regulator on the pump, is my guess. 96 is a transition year, no FSM for that. I'm just curious and confused over this. It's stated a front mount pump is doing 50#, no answer there if the regulator is on the rail or not. Never heard of a 50# regulator on the rail, strongly suspicious there isn't one. Others with 96 have had real issues here involving the fuel pump.
Somebody might know right off, I'd thought the pump/pressure change was in 94. Pre 91, 29-39#, post 96 50# sounds right, am pretty sure. The between I'd need to search, (on this sunny day with the ice melting here in CA!)

In my life I've only had two 1988's and one 1992. I've seen many of the no return line fuel rails at junk yards, but I couldn't tell you when it started either.

Pete, I can't find that "teck specks" link. I even fired up my old puter with no luck. I thought it waz 94 when pressure and pumps changed......
