Remember that rough country, skyjacker, rusty's, etc. All source their cheaper shocks from the same place.
So it doesn't matter if you go cheap. It's all the same.
Buy the rough country lift with their 2.2 shocks, or without shocks then buy some old man emu shocks.

So? RE, BDS, RC, etc all get shocks made from Monroe, along with almost every other company. BDS shocks are better than RE, RE are better than RC. Originally Posted by JeepCoMJ

I disagree. there are different levels of shocks.
Skyjacker, RC and Rusty's are on the same level.
RE and BDS shocks have better valving.
Any way you go, most of them just aren't that good. at least not the base shocks offered in the kit. rule of thumb, ALWAYS go with the "upgrade" shocks offered by them. or opt out of them, saving that $$$, and spend an extra $200+ on a GOOD set of shocks.
I have edelbrock extreme travel IAC remote reservoir shocks laying around, came off my wheeler that I just sold. I kept them, because for $260 that I paid for $1000 worth of shocks...well, it's worth it. I'll NEVER run crappy basic lift shocks again. they ride like crap and last less than a year.

Again thats not true, Rustys are the same hydro shocks as RE as far as internals. Only reason BDS is better is because they use CAV with EVERY shock they distribute.Originally Posted by JeepCoMJ

I've installed or researched most of them.
And, simple FACT is that the basic shocks offered with most brands of lift kits just plain SUCK.
The point to everyone lifting their vehicle is to get your head outta your butt when you'r buying lift kits, and buy some decent shocks. It's WELL worth the money.

I am a Monroe Dealer, along with most other shock/lift companies. We also do in house CAV swaps. Please dont spread false information. Basic Hydro Shocks are fine, I have had less hydros fail on trails than nitros. Its alot easier to have gas leak through the valve than liquid.
