oops, the rusty's guys are gonna hate me for this one
lol so guys i ordered a set of rims from rustys last week and they arrived today, but i screwed up ordering them haha
i ordered 4 black rack crawlers with 4.75" BS(backspacing) i thought that was the same thing as offset, i wanted my new muddies to stick out alot, well when i got them i realized backspacing is the opposite of offset and the new rims are going to be tucked into the wheel wells. damnit! i feel stupid lol
tomarrow im gonna call rustys and see if they we trade with me if i send them back lol....ive baught alot of stuff from them and they are an excellent company, no complaints at all, i hope theyll help me out lol

Whoops, everyone slips up sometime man. I sure hope they let you exchange them, usually companies will let you return/exchange rims as long as they have never had tires mounted, or been mounted on the truck. I've heard alot of bad stuff about their customer service but the one time I dealt with them they were totally great. Best of luck to you man, hope you get it all worked out proper...

4.75" is a bit less backspace than stock if I'm not mistaken. Stock is 5-5.25 or something like that so 4.75 should look ok. Functionally it would be perfectly good IMO.

Do you hear banjos?
I run about that BS, and there are more benifits than detriments, IMHO. Having your wheels farther out puts more strain on your axle and all of the moving parts involved, I primarily speaking about the front axle. It also makes it more difficult to "squeeze" between tight obstacles on the trails. In CO, where I wheel, that is a HUGE thing. A vehicles ability to run a given trail will depend on it being able to fit in some cases. Some trails that I run, a full size rig simply will not fit. I have one friend that runs a 70s era Dodge Power Wagon, and yes, it's a cool truck, but he has to beat the crap out of that thing to hang with us on even the mildest trails in some cases. IMHO, you should run the wheels you got, and don't look back, I think that once you get them mounted with the tires, you see what I'm talking about!! HTH!!

We have similar issues with width on the trails down here in FL. My Jeep could only stand to be a couple inches wider, any more and I'd be driving in the palmettos on either side. If you want you tires to stick out and want some mud in your face, just do a nice fender flare removal/trim, that should get you the look you are going for, even with the 4.75" BS.

what size tires are you gonna run? how wide are the rims?
12.5 wide tires with 4.75bs might rub on the control arms at full lock.
if they're 8 inch rims and 4.75 backspacing, that means you have .75 inch positive offset.
you want a negative offset to stick the wheels out of the fenders.
for example, 8 inch rim, 3.75 backspacing, you'll have .25 inch negative offset.
take the width of the rim, divide in half, subtract the backspacing. that'll give you the offset. positive offset means the bolt surface is closer to the curbside of the tire. negative offset is obviously closer to the inner fender side of the tire.
i would see if they'll return them for what you need. they're good guys at rusty's, i'm sure they'll help you out. just call them.
