Man, ever since we went in the mud that one time, this cherokee has been a problem. First the idler and belt needed replacing, then it has had a constant squeal when the jeep is on, then the alternator quit. And now, the rear driver's side steel line has popped while we are driving to soccer practice. I guess the jeep felt the annoying squeal wasn't enough to bother me so it wanted us to not be able to stop too.
There is a nice looking 91 on craigslist for 1500 right now....... I wonder what damn problems its got? And it would need the whole lift put on. Right now, I have the front on this half done, the 2" spacers are in from previously and the rear add a leafs are in with the shackles so the back is way higher then the front.
One note: air tools would make installs so much faster

I don't know what's going on, none of our other jeeps had this many little problems. The closest one is the liberty needing a new motor installed. Other then that, no jeep issues at all

I'm having nothing but troubles with the bmw right now. If it wasnt for the jeep id be effed. Is there a splash gaurd under it? if you got muddy water in the alternator its gonna screw it up. And the new belt and idler probably just needed to break in.
belt dressing is great stuff, I had an old truck that the belt would squel not matter wat I did and I would just spray the dressing on it about once a month and it took care of it.

i did mess with my belt but i all i did was clean the pulleys and belt but it still squeeked after i put it on for about 15 miles.
i think i might have tightened it up more though. this time, when i tightened it i would rev it up and watch for slack between the power steering and the idler or whatever is next to it. i would reach over and blip the throttle up and watch and hten tighten till i got no slap. i don't know if that helped but whatever it was, thank you lord for stopping that noise.
