As long as it is a 4.0L with a distributor the lower end will swap in but you need to retain the head and swap it to the new block so all the sensors will work with the ECU. You can do the entire swap but it way more expensive to try to adapt the H.O. stuff into a Renix.

i have a 2001 4.0l in my 91'' xj. the 01 had coil on plug with no distributor.. just took out the pickup from the dist. spot and slapped in my old distributor.
only differences i foud were the coil mounting location and the temp guage sensor will not go into the newer style head... i made a mount for my coil and am running an aftermarket temp guage....runs like a champ!! your renix intake will bolt right on. only sensor i see you having probs with is the temp guage coolant sensor.
not to hard of a swap and took me two days...pm if you have questions

I have an 89 and put a 91 in it,one thing that must be replaced is the flexplate or flywheel if manual trany,I learned this the hard way, and the dist,You will also need wire the temp switch on the thermostate housing,I basically removed everything down to a bare block and put my 89 stuff back on the new motor, all you are gaining is the head and cam from the h.o,I could not even use the injectors because they flow more than the injectors on my 89 and I actually lost about 3 mpg,I have them as spares,I went this direction because the motor had low miles and was given to me,it is not alot of work.
As far as the trany and and xfer case, they will bolt up but you will, I think need to use the pcm from the newer trany.
