Old Shocks = pop / crunch sounds?
93, 3" lift, rancho rs5000 rusty lookin shocks
new shocks are coming soon .. but tracking this pop sound down is drivin me nuts ... .. only when its really cold out, it goes away .. I get a crunch sound when that side gets compressed more than usual too .. had to drive off a curb yesterday, crunch and a pop .. I checked the shock attach bolts .. all tight
was thinkin Track bar to body .... bolts are extremely tight to adjust, cant budge em .. track bar looks fine / bushing wise, and tight
its coming right from that area, drivers side shock. i just replaced sway bar linkage, since it was loose / worn out .. that wasnt it .. all tie rod boots re-done / re-greased .. new axle u joints .. wheel hubs are ok .. ball joints checked out ok
Pops usually happen making right hand turns .. so, drivers side is compressing weird ?
at least .. got alot of refurb done tracking it down

look ok, seem tight .. any good way to test them? doing most of this solo, and it doesnt make noise sitting still / turning wheel back/forth .. all feels good .. til moving / turning / bumps in road
guess, just need to get front shocks installed asap .. there was 1 loose lower shock bolt .. was so happy finding that, but noise is still there .. baaw !
the shocks have boots, cant see the inner arm .. but they look old .. rusty drip residue .. I also tried to tighen the motor compartment upper shock nut .. shock bolt turns with nut .. is that right ? doesnt seem to be
as far as my lift .. do control arms / sway links need to be swapped from stock height parts ? not sure what PO has done to this

took a breaker bar to try to tighten frame / track bar assy .. 2 took a slight turn, but not much with alot of force
the track bar bolt behind spring is impossible with ratchet .. may need to buy a heavy duty wrench to hit it
while crawling around checking control arms for play .. found 1 of 2 nuts was missing on drivers side engine mount bracket (lower) .. luckily the nut from old sway link, fit it .. I tightened that on there as much as i could w/ a washer .. then tightened all of those motor mount bolts / both sides
popping is still there when steering quick / hard fast to the right .. maybe its that spring located track bolt .. I think its the shock though
only when i turn left into my parking lot .. uphill, left side compacted .. it pops on a left hand turn
i do feel a slight tick in steering when barely moving .. sitting still, no ticks/pops .. when moving over 10 mph, those are more noticeable
maybe need to tighten that motor bolt from both ends .. make sure its super tight
