OK, now what? Temp BELOW 210.
New radiator (leaked) upper hose (leaked) water pump (exploded) thermostat (process of over-heating elimination) new mechanical fan clutch (definitely not working - new one fixed the "airplane" shutting down sound also) and temperature sender (just because).
Now jeep stays well below 210, while running, idling, all the time. Is this an issue? If there's a previous thread for this, just send me there.

My jeep runs at about 195- 200 when Im driving,when it idles the temp will go up to about 212 or so ,same thing with the a/c on when driving its still below 210 about 195-200 roughly but temp rises when at idle again to the same roughly 212 and the electric fan starts when it gets to roughly 212.If you always stay below say 195 to 200 at sitting and idling than Im incline to say its your t-stat.When mine was stuck open it stayed around 170-180 and took forever to get to a normal temp.

I just got done replacing my radiator, water pump, lower radiator hose, and thermostat gasket. My temp. guage has been reading at about 120 constantly since I bought it and I KNOW that isn't right. Supposed to ride at around 210. Ever since I replaced that thermostat gasket it has been reading perfect! I would definantly check that out.

Your Jeep should run about where the T-stat setting is. When mine had the 160 in it, it ran around 160 with a max at about 210 with the AC on and 105F ambient. Now with the 195, it runs about 195, also with a max of 210 with the AC on and 105F ambient.

This past winter, I don't recall seeing the ScanGauge indicate any higher than 200F and that was only mometarily (usually 190-195) or right on the t-stat. When ambient temps are cold, why would it run 210 with a 195 t-stat?

I'd wager that your sender is screwed up. I noticed that if I push the connector onto the sender really forcefully it will screw up and not make a good connection. Mine takes a light touch to get the guage to work properly.
Maybe try messing around with the connector?
I don't think it's possible for a Cherokee to run that cold under any circumstances. (Maybe, but I'd be surprised.)

Yep, replaced the 195 with a 180 last January, it's been in ever since. When ambient temps are cool/cold, it'll run right at/very close to which ever the t-stat temp is (195 or 180). Not so in summer triple digits, XJ rad is too small........temps vary 180-230 and any where in between. Again, ScanGauge, not factory idiot gauge.

Looks like that new thermostat is stuck open. Did you put a lot of rtv on the gasket when you put everything back together? If you did, some could have gotten stuck in the thermostat. Or, it could just be defective.
