Default Oil temp guage going down when i stop

Well as the title says the oil temp gauge drops all the way down when I hit the brake. It just started this morning.
Then the check gauges light turns on.
Once I start going again it goes back up to normal temp.
I have the CEL on but it is for a tps sensor.
Also I went digging last week and I have been leaking coolant since.
Not sure if that has anything in common but please help me
Thanks

oil pressure or coolant temperature gauge? only happens when you brake or also at idle? is the CEL happening only now with the new problem or did the CEL (check engine light) come on before your "oil temp" issue?

Pretty sure it's the oil pressure. Yes. It's been on before the problem

If you could confirm which gauge is dropping to zero and answer my other question about if this zero reading only happens while braking or also happens at idle it would be easier to help you.

Now it's smoking and steaming when I just parked.
It was leaking coolant so I think I might need to fill it but I'm not sure where it's leaking from.

Default Wow same problem

I just posted the exact same issue. #1 it the OIL PRESSURE GAGE/SWITCH just above the oil filter, its done. Get the NAPA replacement it will be more expensive but be the most accurate, the same one is $10 cheaper on Amazon, Airtex 1S6755 but you'll have to may shipping. Dont buy a cheapo one. #2 M radiator leaked out too, was yours from around the fan housing guard?, did your electric fan stop working as well? It happend on my GFs '01 XJ Limited 2wd, she came out and what was left of the coolant/water/50/50 and leaked out, after filling it it stopped leaking and hasnt leaked since. I dont know how the system works, but my thought is that the OIL PRESSURE wasnt regulated so the engine started to over heat and forced all the coolant out some how.

I dont think driving is a good idea, like I said I dont know how this system works but I have a feeling the engine isnt getting oil and thats why it overheating because its not lubed.

Thanks Luke.
It's leaking around the front passenger side. I'm thinking the radiator because it's on my bumper

? Did your check gages light come one a few days ago and the Oil Pressure gage go to ZERO, then today you finally had the overheat? If so it is the exact scenario that happened to my GF's XJ. I'm on Jeep Cherokees group on Yahoo now and getting a bunch of different feed back. One guy says its a small crack in the radiator but I have my doubts. Like I said after I refilled the Radiator I fired up the engine I ran it hard, and there have been no leaks. The guy on Yahoo says that the leek wont show until its hot, I agree, but it should have began to leak after I was running it for a while at high RPM. I just cant help but thing theres more to this than it seems and that its some how related to the gage. I'm going out now to replace all that junk so i'll keep ya posted.

have you checked the oil level? low oil definitely can cause low oil pressure

Im almost thinking head judging by the low oil pressure and mysterious bubbling/coolant loss. Is your oil milky? Exhaust smell sweet?

Next step is to get a external oil pressure gauge (I think you can rent them), hook it up and see if it says teh same thing the cluster does.
