You should see oil fling up in little droplets from the valves and land on the valve cover with the fill cap off when you hit the throttle. If there is no oil getting up there, then you may need a pump or you have some wicked blockage. I'm surprised your valves aren't seized yet from getting no oil. This must be either recent or they're getting some oil.

I think mmo is kerosine, red dye, and a viscosity enhancer. Look at the msds and make your own judgment. Don't get me wrong though, I'm runnin a quart of the stuff right now just before an oil change.

Whatever it is, it works great and has been around for decades. No reason whatsoever to avoid it.

If you've got oil up there, then you're okay. It's not like an ounce or two is going to end up on your valve cover in a few seconds. If you are getting oil up there, then your engine flushing may have helped or there is a different problem. If they are looking burnt and you have oil, I would guess your valves aren't seating and sealing properly. Is it just one or two valves that look burnt or is it the whole valvetrain?
