long story short, bought 2000 Jeep Cherokee with low oil pressure. Completely rebuilt engine, all new bearings, cam, lifters, the works. The oil pump that was on the engine was a brand new Melling installed by the previous owner to rectify the oil pressure problem, but it did not due to cam bearings being wiped out. I took the pump apart to inspect and clean but now can't find a thrust plate gasket to reassemble. The pump and pickup are new, and I would like to reuse them. Has anyone had luck finding a gasket? I can find gaskets for other makes/models but not the Jeep 4.0.

is this a gasket inside of the pump or is it the gasket that goes between the block and pump at the base for mounting

 

This is the gasket between the thrust plate and gears. I have the gasket for mounting to the block.

might try calling Melling Customer Service directly...

My 2000 parts guide does not show a gasket there, if you mean between the oil pump cover (#3) and the gears (#7, #9). #12 is J317 2332.

 

There is no gasket that goes there
