any time I've don't the scrape method I used a shop vac to suck up junk as I was scraping it. I'm also kind of silly when it comes to working on engines so there really wasn't much crud if any left when I got done. just put open end of the vacuum hose right on top of what you're scraping to insure nothing gets loose and falls in the engine.

With that much sludge, why not remove the rocker arms and the push rods and do a thorough cleaning off the engine? It takes less than an hour to do a complete removal/installation of these components. I also think your oil pump is struggling to try to circulate all that loose sludge sitting in the oil pan.

Just a thought, maybe pull drain plug and take off valve cover, use kerosene and flush some of the floaties out through the drain plug hole. Maybe even use compressed air and blow into the oil pressure sender hole to help knock some off the pick-up screen.

That's a thought.

I have de-sludged many running engines just by using MMO with Rotella.
Monitored through oil filler hole. Breaking chunks loose in any way, regardless of your hopes in recovering all of them, scares me.

No. Pull the oil filter off and blow compressed directly into the filter inlet hole (not the threaded nipple) . This way will deliver 100% of the air to the pickup screen.

I was using a vaccume when i scraped the sludge. But yeah some of it did fall down. I didnt pull the rocker arms out because i have never seen it done before. I know it may sound stupid but i have a hard time figuring things out unless i see it first visually and then i can do it with no problems but words dont seem to stick in my head.

Im not going to do the rear main seal at least not right nor or not on my own. I dont think it is a problem and id already planned on the felpro gasket freegdr. I learned that when i did the valve cover gasket.

I do not have access to an air compressor. I was planning to pull the oil pump and clean it with carb cleaner or something like that. Is the oil pickup press fit or bolted on?

Press fit on the oil pump.

Get one it is a good investment. If you have quadra-trac it is very important to have equal tire pressures and you need to check regularly.
You can get a good home use compressor for around $100. It is a lot easier to backflow the screen then it is to pull the pan.

Believe me i want one. Planned on getting one. This jeep has eaten quite a bit of money. Im down to my last 100 bucks until next month. I need this to work the first time so my plan her combining everything everyones suggested...

Fram oil filter with the bypass valve. Rotella t triple protection because i cant find rotella t3. Felrpo oil pan gasket. Marvel mystery oil. Pull the pan and clean it out. Pull the oil pump and clean it out and inspect the gears for any wear or damage as i can get a rebuild kit fairly cheap. So this is my plan for right now.

NO FRAM!!! Napa Silver is inexpensive but meets OEM spec.

Triple Protection IS T3.

I wouldn't even pull the pan yet. I'd do an oil drain, blow through the filter mount as suggested by bigbadon, pour some solvent down through the same hole you blew through, blow that through. Repeat a few times. Let everything drain out. Refill with 4 quarts of Rotella and 2 quarts of MMO. Use the Napa Silver filter.

Its not the price thats the problem cruiser. Its the fact that i cant get to a napa there is no napa near me. Maybe i can order it online. Let me look around. And again id ont have access to an air compressor so my option is to clean things manually so what should i do in this case?

Got O'Reilly's? Carquest?

It's a Wix filter.

At bare minimum, pour a solvent down through the oil filter adapter, with the drain plug out. Got a shop vac? Empty it out and clean it. Hook the hose to the outlet and use it to blow the solvent through.

There is an o'reilly's nearby. Theyve got the wix filter for 7 bucks. Their rotella only comes in 2 and a half gallons for almost 50 bucks so ill get hte rotella from autozone and get the filter from o'reilly's. I dont have a shop vac but my ladys grandpa has one i can borrow. What solvent would you recommend i pour down through the oil filter adapter?
