Hey folks. Just wan ted to give one final update on this topic and i will post back again with a video later either tomorrow or a few days later.
So the jeep is running great. For a little bit when i first start it up oil pressure is at 80psi but once it warms up the pressure drops between 15-20 psi at idle. During acceleration the psi goes up to around 60-80.
The cooling issues seem to be resolved. I sat and idled for a good 15 minuites and it never quite went to 210.
The new shocks work great in the front. THe back is now very obviously not working so great by comparison.
The jeep sat for a few days and i cannot explain how but the brake pedal no longer squished to the floor. Im goign to assume perhaps air bubbles rose to the top. The brakes were pretty thoroughly tested and work adequately.
I got a tire replaced and got an alignment done half assedly and now the jeep drives straight as long as i hold the wheel =P
So it is mobile and i feel safe to use it.
The one negative left is that it is still stalling on me. Only once hot and immediately after starting up and accelerating. Starts right back up and is usually fine after that.
My catalytic converter rattles like nobodys business and i thought it was a heat shield because if i hit it with my fist i can reproduce the rattle but theoreticly when it was running like *** could it have damaged the catalytic converter and perhaps back pressure is causing it to stall once it is hot if say the honey comb in the cat is slagged up or blocking off the exhaust when theres a decent amount of heat and pressure in there?

PS: You are one of the most tenacious, hard working, "stick with it" guys I have ever encountered. My hat is off to you.

Thanks cruiser. There was definitely some swearing and a few times i seriously considered that this wasnt worth it. But i love my jeep. I have regretted letting go of my first ever since i did so i decided im not going to give up on this one. It has taught me alot about vehicles in general and to be honest i enjoy driving it far more than any newer car ive ever driven. This old rig it just grabs me by my man parts and says lets go for a ride! Newer cars i feel so disconnected from the road and the vehicle. Its...too comfortable if that makes sense. But anyways let me know your thoughts on the stalling and catalytic converter. Oh and cruiser how do you test the map sensor? I know that could be part of it. Its about the only sensor i havent replaced yet other than the coolant sensors.

Think about this. The MAP works off of vacuum. That's how it senses load on the engine. When vacuum drops, as in acceleration, the MAP signals the eCU to richen things up. Originally Posted by Crimmy

I believe i started on number 1 but i did not do number 5. I have plans of upgrading all of the mains and grounds with welding cable in the future. I sanded the paint off the point where the engine grounds to chassis.

Ive not done number 5 due to my multimeter being a cheap lieing bastard. So for now i guess ill remove the cat and inspect the honeycomb inside. If its salvageable and not slagged up ill try cleaning it. If not ill temporarily straight pipe it. It is not illegal to run without a catalytic converter where im at but id prefer to use one.Originally Posted by cruiser54

Is there any means to test the map sensor?

That is suprising that you don't have to have a CAT in Portland, we have to have them in Spokane which isn't near as liberal, in fact shops won't remove them even if you ask since it is illegal. Not that you would get caught unless you have to do smog, it is just surprising. It is not illegal to run without a catalytic converter where im at but id prefer to use one.

Portland does require it. I do not live in portland anymore i live out in the boonies in mcminnville. And like i said i do want it. But anyways i know its against the rules to talk about this so back to my other question. I want to rule out the map sensor being an issue.Originally Posted by Jeepcrazy5722
