Default Oil Pressure sensor/ Ascending unit

Hello, I need some help in figuring out what is going on with my oil pressure gauge,sensor/Ascending unit. My Cherokee as always ran at about 40 on the oil gauge until recently, now it shoots to over 80 which in my opinion is to high. I have had the sensor/Ascending unit replaced twice. the first time I broke it trying to change the oil filter the second time was because it was leaking oil. I check the oil regularly and have it changed every 3,000 miles the oil is fine and my jeep runs fine I am really concerned that this is going on. I have owned my 1994 cherokee for 11 years and have never seen any thing like this even when pulling heavy loads any advice is greatly appreciated.

Could just need another sender. Some of them are just crappy, and it takes a couple to find a good one. Go get a new one, and put it in. If you can change a Light Bulb you can do this. You will spend more time washing your hands afterward, than you will doing the work.

The oil pressure sending unit is something that I always purchase directly from Jeep.

No lack of threads of people having issues with some (not all) aftermarket units.

Well worth the extra money.

Yeah, the ascending unit is an easy thing to check based on a process of denial and error.

Please get a good mechanical test guage and verify your oil pressure. You said you broke the first unit and since then it seems your problem has existed. You could have a restriction that has not starved it's part enough to rear it's ugly head yet. Also go to jeep for your sensors unfortunantly they are more expensive but I seem to only have a problem with aftermarket sensors but the dealer ones USUALLY work great.
