Recently have been redoing a cherokee that has been sitting for about 3 years. Got the jeep running, the oil pressure gauge worked. Shut the jeep off, started it again and the oil gauge pegged to the right. I have read that the sending unit goes south a lot. 1990 bone stock 4.0

 

When mine went out it was pegged to the right.

 

Yes replace the sending unit that should take care of it.

Did you smack the sender with the oil filter wrench?

 

I suppose if for some reason it has a sender for a light it might do goofy things.

 

There's a good chance of that cruiser. I just changed the filter, I have been out of town and just not getting home. I'll check that ASAP.
