CEL still on after IAT replaced twice.
All right, I'm at my wits end. My CEL came on several weeks ago, and the code it gave was 23- low voltage intake air temp sensor. So I got the sensor from Advance and went home and installed it. I left the battery unhooked for an hour, installed the new sensor, then fired her up. CEL came right back on. So I went to Autozone and had them run my codes, and sure enough it was still a low voltage IAT sensor. He tried clearing the code four times, but it wouldn't clear it. So I got another new IAT sensor from Autozone (also a different manufacturer) and went home and installed it. Unplugged the battery for thirty more minutes, then fired her up. STILL has a CEL. I checked all the wires for cracking or severing, and I cleaned the pigtail and it still does no good. The Jeep runs excellently. No sputters, idles normally, and drives like it always has. Someone please help before I go insane!

Codes do not tell you to replace sensors. They only give a place to start your diagnoses. Pass that popcorn over here Ken.
All right, then what else could it possibly be? The search function on here isn't bringing me back much to go on. A couple months ago I refreshed all my grounds since I knew than to be a trouble spot on XJ's. Where should I begin?

Do you have a Data Link Connector (DLC), under the left side of the dash, by the hood release handle, and in front of the floor courtesy lamp?
If so, use a code reader or scanner to pull the code(s).
The '97 was an odd duck OBDII. One you had to use the key trick and the other you could use a code reader, and of course, there is the ones you could do both.
The DLC looks like this:

I tore deeper into the wiring harness last night and didn't immediately see anything strange. Then this morning on the way home from work, the CEL went off. I will monitor it. Thanks for the help guys.
