so i have a slight leak that i will fix sooner or later but until then i do have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge how much oil pressure should i have?

 

never less then 10 psi...At driving speeds and fully warmed up I run around 50-60 psi..at idle around 30-40 psi.

 

With alot of mileage you may be in the 10# range. The FSM says 13-15# but that is not taking into account 200,000 miles of use that is ideal relatively new engine.

How much pressure is it showing now? cold to running temp. Yeep a eye on you oil level at dip stick before you start in the morning " Cold engine" if pressure is some what low you might try a thicker oil for a bit or even a additive with the oil such a a lucas product.

 

Ive got ten weight motor oil in there now. The pressure is right around 30 even with the rear main seal leak. Got some stuff from Autozone that is supposed to help i will let ya know how it works out.

 

My 87 is always at 20 psi 180,000 miles my wifes is always at 40-50 with 130,000 miles on hers both 87 waggies

 

You might try a heavier weight oil than 10wt too I would suggest 30wt but it is ultimately up to you.

 

I will give the rear main seal stop leak a few days to work its way in, if that does not help i will put 30wt in as soon as i need to add more, Thanks for the help blue! oh and just an fyi the engine has about 71k miles on it

 

I'm right here too with 258,000 miles on it, i run 10/40 syn. blend and a quart of power punch.
