Default Oil Pressure Question.

Recently just purchased a 2000 jeep Cherokee and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing changing oil pressures. When driving my oil pressure remains at about 50 psi and when at idle it sinks to around 25-30psi. Was wondering if that was normal for a Cherokee to have that much of a change in oil pressure. The jeep sounds fine at idle and doesn't really feel jumpy at all. I would appreciate your input. Thanks

Mine does that too and it's never caused any problems.

It's suppose to do that. You don't need all that oil pressure at idle. So nothing to worry about at all.

My 2000 goes down to 20psi at idle when it's warmed up (and up to 50 when cruising). It seemed fine to me, so I never gave it a thought. It also takes a while for the pressure to come up after a cold start, but there's no lifter clatter, so I figure there's nothing to be worried about.

Absolutely NORMAL. You will have less oil pressure at idle than you'll have under load.
