Default Oil Pressure Question

Hey guys,

I just changed my tranny filter and fluid and added a cooler. Of course my stupid tranny dipstick tube wouldn't separate so I had to unbolt it to drop the pan enough to access.

Now it is all back together, but when checking fluid levels I noticed that my regular oil pressure which has always been around 40 cold was only around 20 on the gauge, and of course it dropped lower when it warmed up. I didn't drive it on the highway to see what the pressure at speed was yet.

I am guessing maybe when I took the fill tube loose and worked it down the engine compartment that maybe I damaged the oil pressure sensor? Any other possibilities? I am guessing I need to get a mechanical gauge to check the pressure and if it really did drop to 20 cold then I should start trying to better diagnose?

Mileage is only 106k on a '98. It still sounds like it's running perfectly, but maybe I plugged a screen or something.

Thoughts?

Greg
