Light only comes on when the engine warms up and is at idle. Once you press the gas, it goes out. Think the pump is bad? Maybe i need to change the oil? Please dont say pump!

 

have you at leaste checked the oil?

 

Ya, oil level is good. This cherokee sat around for about 2 years and the oil wasnt changed. It LOOKS clean, but Im gonna cgange it anyway just to make sure. Could that cause this problem?

what weight oil are you gunna run?

 

Mine did that 2 years ago when I first bought it. It had also been sitting for awhile when I bought it. I changed the oil every 2500 miles and it went away after the third change. The light has never come back on and oil pressure doesn't fluctuate.

 

Sounds to me like its just due to old oil build up in your pressure sensor

 

mine did this too for a long time oil was always good when i checked it then one day it sarted spitting oil all down the back side of engine it was the oil pressure sending unit a cheap fix 120 bucks canadian installed works great so far 8000 km and no light coming on or leak anymore
