Oil pressure guage reading - Canada
I'm in Canada and my oil pressure guage display has 4 settings:
0 - dash - 3 - dash - 5.4 with 3 being the middle
1) What do these number's correspond to? I know its not psi.
Also, my guage normally sits just under the 3/4 dash when its cold (half way between 3 and 5.4)
When its normal operating temp and idilling, it'll drop to 3, and jump up to just under 3/4 dash when I accelerate.
2) I've heard that 30 - 60 psi is normal. Is that correct? Based on my guage, where should my needle sit?
thanks,

I just had to replace the sending unit in mine (98XJ) cuz it was reading just above zero. Mine now sits at 3 also and moves up slightly when I accelerate.
So I thinks yours is all good.

been looking for this for a while, mine goes all the way up just past the 5.4 when it's cold, but when it's been run for a long time, at idle it will go just below the 3

yeah thats measured in bar. 1 bar is roughly 14.5 psi. and 1 bar is the same as 100 kpa. my 2000 dodge ram was measured in kpa.
but anyways, yeah if you do the math, youre sittin good. my 97 is at about 3.5 when its cold, and down to 2 at idle when its warmed up. when im drivin 60km/h its usually right on 3. mine hasnt blown up yet, so youre better of than me!
