I have a 2000 XJ with the 4.0 engine. When I start it the oil pressure pegs out at 80+ lbs and then drops back to 60 lbs at idle. It used to go to 40+ lbs at start up and drop to 20 lbs or so at idle. Sending unit ? ------------ Thanks, GeezerD

 

Normally when the sending unit is going out it will peg to 80+ or the port is plugged.

BTW, If you can get yourself an OEM sending unit. They are more reliable and more accurate then the aftermarket ones.
