Default Oil pan gasket replacement advice?

Well, I installed the rebuilt a few weeks ago and have had a small leak on the front of the engine since then. I was thinking it was tranny fluid because of the tranny cooling line that runs by the harmonic balancer might have got beat up a little when we pulled the engine but nope, it is the front of the oil pan. Apparently I didn't seal the front of the pan enough, bolts are all tight.

So this weekend I guess I will be pulling the pan and installing a new gasket.

Any advice on the easiest way to get this done? I have heard horror stories about dropping the whole front end to get by the oil pick up screen?

The oil pan is fairly easy to take off on a non lifted jeep. Most people who have to drop the front axle are idiots and shouldn't be working on cars. If you jack the Jeep up and put jack stands on the unibody rails and let the front axle max out its suspension, makes taking the pan off a short job.

2x on the jacking it up on the unibody till your wheels come off the ground.

And this is the reason I always replace this stuff when the motor is out.

Damn near everything is new on the engine when I put it back together.

I am thinking I didn't put enough rtv on the two front points on the oil pan like the fsm calls for.

The problem area, must have crimped the gasket before I torqued it down...

You sure it isn't coming out of the timing cover seal?

X2. It's where my leak on the front was from. I replaced the front and rear seal along with oil filter adapter orings, pan seal and valve cover. No more leaky anywhere...no big ball of flame yet either cruiser...crazy stuff

That picture shows oil streaks coming from behind the balancer. Looks like you need to pull the balancer & change that seal......

Criuser was likely right...as usual.....

Oil, like other things, doesn't flow uphill.
