Ok, today i broke the final seal on my Gasket, and got my pan to finally break free. Took me 3 days to get it out
I went to Napa and got myself a new Gasket and I asked the Tech there what type of Gasket Glue i needed, and he suggested that i dont use any.
The Gasket is a Rubber one, one solid gasket all the way around, with Metal braces inside the rubber on the Sides.
Im looking at my Pan and the Motor Block, and im seeing a high potential for leaks around the Corner joints of the Front and Back gasket. Im just wondering if the guy at Napa was correct, or if i need to put Gasket Cement on it anyways, or if i just need it around the Corners of the end Gaskets.
Any help/advice would be much appricated

i always put dabs of Black RTV around the sharp corners of the pan like where it meets the timing chain cover and the back of the block..

I always use black rtv silicone on the pan, it helps hold the gasket in place when your are trying to fit it in to place. I put some on the corners of the block too.

yeah just to be safe so you dont have to go thru all the trouble again i would put some on the area that look like they might leak just to be safe.

In theory you dont need gasket glue, and too much in one place can F up your seal. However, I dont think a little bit will hurt.

use drywall anchors... push them through the bottom of the pan, lay the gasket over them, remove one at a time as you put the pan bolts back in.Originally Posted by thevervaeckes

RTV at corners, agree'd.

I always use black rtv it never hurts to have it unless you just make a mess of it. Just a little and then around the corners.
