So I am leaking about 5 drops or so a day from my oil pan gasket. It looks like a real easy task to repair.. Basically drain oil, unbolt pan. Clean off edges put a new gasket then rebolt right? Am I missing anything? Also while I got the oil pan off is there anything I should check for preventative measures? My Jeep is a 1989 with 200k miles Inline 6. What all is in the oil pan? Ive never had to replace a gasket on the lower portion of the motor but it should be just as easy as a head gasket right? I just bought the Jeep and the oil is pitch black so I need to change and while im changing oil i want to replace the gasket and any pumps anyone thinks I should for preventative measures. (im looking to get 300k miles before a rebuild).
Also is there anything I need to remove to be able to drop the pan? It doesnt seem like anything is in the way for me to drop it. How heavy is it? 40 lbs?

I just re-did my fluids on my 2000 at I just bought it last week. I also noticed my pan could use another gasket as its leaking (very small) - I would like to know also if there is anything else?

ok so its easy in a 1989? I dont have to remove anything to get it out? I was reading that in a 1995 you gotta lift the engine and unbolt from the motor mounts and stuff? Just trying to know the ins and outs before I replace. (currently not driving the Jeep so im doing my research to fix everything on it, paid $400 for it and it runs strong but lots of issues)

Yes it is easy.
It helps to take the starter out since it is kinda tight on the side.
You will have to jack truck up high and put the jack stands under the unibody. That is to let the front axle hang. Reason: because it will take a lil finesse to actually get the pan out with the axle there.
Change out your rear main seal while you are down there.
Have fun this is a messy job. OH and have fun chiseling off the old gasket LMAO

If I only knew where they were. I have read and understand the rear main seal, oil pan gasket. So the front main seal and oil adapter o rings is what I need to do as well. I am trying to take this off once and clean it all up and replace everything I need to to try and get to 300k miles (100k away). Any pics or tutorials on those?

Also since I got all of this off how hard is it to go ahead and replace the oil pump even if its ok for now. The pump does have 200k miles on it though.

Here is the factory numbers for the o-rings 3300397,33003971,330033972 when you install the 2 inner o-rings put a little grease on them,I had the napa part numbers but I can't find them, any Napa can cross referance them for you.
I agree...with only a few drops of oil, let it pass. Wait till you really start having issues with the leaking. You may very well go 50k without having to touch a thing, unless you just want to become more familar with the engine.
