Oil has burnt smell and gas odor, slight misfire when idling, bucks/sputters @ 45mph
I posted earlier about my '94 Cherokee SE and the problems I was having when driving between 40-45mph: it would sputter and buck/jerk. Upon closer inspection I noticed a slight misfire while I was checking out the exhaust. I checked the oil once more and noticed the smell of burnt oil; and something else: the smell of gasoline. So, I removed the cap for the oil resevoir and smelled the underside of the cap. Again, the smell of gasoline. So, I talked to a very close friend of mine, whom is a very proud owner of a Wrangler and he came by. His thought is the fuel pump; if it's located under the hood. Otherwise he thinks it may be a problem with the injectors. Either way, something is causing gasoline to seep into the block, and I really don't want to deal with burnt rods! Any help or advice would really be appreciated!
