Default Oil guage intermiintent

So my oil guage works when it wants to and i dont know were to really start. The pump works or my motor would b fried.?.? N e advice on were to start thanks

Check the wires going into your oil pressure sending unit, screwed in right above your oil filter. Start with the simple stuff before assuming anything worse

Always post year/engine for most accurate replies.

Generally speaking, start with replacing the oil pressure sending unit; also known in some parts stores as the oil pressure "switch".

I was under the impression the "switch" was installed on the other side of the engine for the dummy gauge. If it is installed where the sending unit goes, it pegs the gauge.

Sorry i have an i6 in an 89cherokee. I will b drivin down the rd an sometimes it will come on an work then it wont. So there is somethin right above the oil filter

Sorry i am not familiar with the 89', that has the renix right? Not sure the differences so it may be located somewhere else

My 89 the oil sending unit is right above oil filter
