Default oil gauge problem

Im having problems my oil gauge will just drop out for no reason at all. Then about 2 miles down the road it will jump back up to were it was running before it dropped out .Are there anyway to test the oil sending unit to see if tis bad or should I just go ahead and convert it over to a manual gauge to be on the safe side.

90% chance it is a bad sender. They are kinda in the way when you change the filter so get knocked around a bit. The lone wire running to them also gets wiggled and gets a loose connection whih seems like what you have Jabo.

I would just replace the stock sender, then add a mechanical if you wish
