Valvoline High Mileage, 10w-40 with Lucas Oil Stabilizer and a K&N filter.

Before the Lucas I had lifter tick, now it seems to have gone away.

 

Car quest premium always have had good luck with them. They also have a little display comparing them to the other filters out there.

 

One of my buddies was just telling me about how Fram sucks... He said NAPA had really good filters.. Hmm..

 

I use Napa Golg filters and Castrol 10w30 oil

NAPA are Wix filters. Wix makes filters for Nascar, if anyone cares.

 

I didn't think anybody else knew or remembered that.

 

NAPA GOLD filters are made by Wix. And usually cheaper. I usually use those or Bosch filters if I go to vatozone for the oil change special. Others say Mobil 1 and Champion filters are good. I dont know who makes the Mopar ones.

 

I heard/read that mopar filters are outsourced and could be made by a number of companies. They are just painted different and stamped with the mopar logo.

Next time I do my oil I will swap out for a napa gold

I am the Technical Training manager for FRAM, Prestone and Autolite. Please dont believe the "internet tribal knowledge" you may hear about FRAM. I know there are several 10 year old "I cut open some oil filters studies" on the net. There is no filter testing in either one, just the posters opinions. We make five different grades of filters depending on your mileage, change intervals and what kind of oil you use. We stand behind our products 110%. We make OE filters for Honda and Subaru. You should look for a filter that has both good efficie ncy and capacity and use a high qaulity oil. look for filters that are tested to ISO test standards, they superceeded the SAE standards in 2002. For your vehicle, I would recommend the FRAM High mileage filter. It contains a basket inside that has an additve that releases slowly over the life of the oil change. this additve helps maintain the TBN of your oil over the life of the oil change. If you are going to use synthetic oil, I would recommend the FRAM Extended Guard filter. this filter is recommended for up to 10k oil changes when used with quality synthetic oil. It has silicone valves, a two ply synthetic filter media backed by a stainless steel screen and has exceptional dirt holding capacity. Thanks for posting this. I've used Fram filters exclusively in my '84 Dodge RamCharger http://www.dodgeramcharger.com/featu...arger-26.shtml since it was new. Never had any problems and it runs fantastic at 250,000+ miles!

I've used a variety of filters in my cherokees, including Mopar, Fram, Mobil 1, and STP. Never had problems with any of them.

 

MOPAR just as cheap as fram and get it at walmart
