Default Oil Filters.

Ok I know what one is what it does how to change it and all that stuff.

Up until a while ago I have always heard great things about fram.

I read a post somewhere on here where people were advising against Fram filters due to poor quality.

I am just curious if this is true or was it something that has been fixed.

If fram is a crappy filter what is a good one to replace it with. I have one on my jeep right now along with an extra amsoil filter that the PO put on there.

For maximum engine life and just an all around great filter is there a different one you suggest? Even one that fits but is not the stock one for the jeep?

the details.

My mom has has bad experiences with fram, they're generally pretty cheap filters. I refuse to use fram and instead I'd recommend STP if you're gonna be cheap about it or if you wanna go high dollar buy a Bosch filter. When I change the oil here in the next week I'm probably gonna get a Bosch filter thats larger than stock for more flow capacity since my rig is gonna see lots of trail use

I have a Purolator in right now with 10w-30 Quaker State... From what I have read, the Purolator filters are probably one of the worst ones on the market... Im about due for an oil change and Im thinking about getting a mobil 1... My dad read that those are pretty good...

I've used fram most of the time on all my vehicles and never had a problem, got one on the jeep now.

wow that was pretty helpful.

Right now I am running a Fram that I got from advance auto so it's probably bottom of the bucket stock version and I have Valvoline 10-40 High Mileage.

Next oil change Ill step up the filter quality.

I wish more filters would do something like this. Fram probably has it patented though.

How about making your own oil filter. I have an old coffee can and a bag of cotton *****. I can go get some screen from the hardware store and duct tape!

I use to use fram and my lifters would tick but I didn't think anything about it until someone told me to change filters. I use a mopar filter now and no longer have the tick. I also have run havoline 10w30 and have never had a problem with it. 186k
