Default Oil on filter

I was wondering if this is common on the Xj's the vacuum line running from head to filter has leaked oil on my filter.

yes it is common mine does the same and does not effect the performance to my knowlege i have come to accept it

You taking about from the valve cover breather to the air cleaner box? If you are, I did a PCV valve with a grommet and a new hose. I get a little oil on the valve cover. They never installed a baffle to block the oil from blowing through.

You may have a clogged CCV system (crankcase ventilation system), a bit of internal blowby (bad engine rings) or a combination of both.

First thing to suspect and attack is that CCV system. How many miles on this engine? I'd recommend "refurbishing" the entire system. Remove valve cover, thoroughly clean it, replace the CCV grommets, reinstall valve cover. New CCV tubes going in and out of the valve cover.

Then see where you are at after that.

It's probably a bad one. Common issue never had one on any of my jeeps. Get a K&N. U can't keep cleaning it instead of a new one.
