Default oil coolers?

educate me on how the work, why should or shouldnt buy one, and is it a good idea?

same with the tranny ones..

Tranny one is more of a need than the oil one. Keeps the tranny from over heating on long trips, off roading or towing stuff. Other wise you shouldn't need one.

How would you hook up an engine oil cooler? I think I just Hijacked this thread. But they are related to oil coolers as Belto asked about. So does anyone know?

One and the same. VW Bug guys do them all the time, do to the air cooling not being that great on a Bug. It is the same as a trans cooler, but it can take the higher pressures. They do the same thing, just more cooling options. HTH!!

so with our notorious heating problems engines,, do you recommend getting one of those?

If the cooling system is in good shape, our 4.0s don't have cooling issues. After getting mine squared away, it's as cool as a cucumber!! I do not think they are needed for the 4.0 motor. HTH!!
