the rear valve is clogged, probably the plastic hose somewhere or the opening in the manifold is clogged. manifold sucks air in from the valve cover and sucks it in from the front fresh air intake. if the back is clogged up it will push it out thru the front into the air filter. i watched mine blow out when it was dirty and then sucked in when clean.

I didn't think there IS a front one. Vacuum from the positive crankcase ventilation system (didn't say pcv(
)) is what is suppose to keep things going the right way, I think.

right
next your going to say there is more than one Lassy
I seem to remember my 64 chevy did though. Maybe to keep the back-firing through a much larger tube from igniting the crank case vapor.

x2 it doesn't have a ball that rattles in it or anything making it a one way valve like a PCV. Its a CCV (Closed Crankcase Ventilation) . From my understanding, the line coming from the air box air is flowing into the valve cover and out the back line to the intake, well actually its getting sucked that way because the line at the intake man has way more vacuum just because it is closer to the sucking force (engine) so if the back one gets clogged the front ones air switches directions and becomes a vacuum in stead of a air supply, resulting in oil in your air box.

The tubes and orifices must be free of carbon, oil, kinks, or breaks for the system to function properly. If, after verifying all this is functioning properly and you still experience excessive oil in your air cleaner, there is a fix which involves removing the valve cover. What year is your Jeep?
