Default OIL!

hey guys i have a 97 xj and i was messing around lastnight and i was at a red light the ground was wet and i floored it. she took off like a bat out of hell and drove fine. i woke up this morning and there was oil on the drive way it was never there before, i looked at the oil pan and it looks like its dripping from the sides not the rms. is it possible that me flooring it blew my pan seal?

Yeah it's very possible. usually it will cause front or rear seal to take a dive. It's possible you have blown your valve cover gasket as well. oil leaks=working from top down. might also check the distributor shaft as well.

I dont see a way for that to happen unless your ccv is extremely plugged up. Never heard of flooring a vehicle causing an oil gasket (pan, VC, etc) to leak.

Its possible but highly unlikely...I mean if your jeep was driven like your 90 before and you hammer on it alot more then its used to maybe it effected an old bad/brittle gasket and that was just the last kick it needed to go. But then agian its really unlikely....

I think if its leaking change the oil pan gasket, probably couldnt hurt to do the rear main seal while your at it if its definetly leaking from there.

Chances are the gasket was brittle to begin with and you driving it like that was the straw that broke the camels back. If it were me I'd do the oil pan gasket, rms, clean ccv, and maybe the oil pump if I thought it needed it. But then I'm not like most people. Once I tear something apart I replace everything just so I know it's done.

looking at those pics, and judging from when it started happening, I'm willing to bet you blew one or more of the oil filter adapter o-rings due to the high pressure when you floored it.
