Well i doubt it would like my driveshaft angles since i have a 4.5" lift. I got the driveshaft from the shop today, it looks brand new! What kind of grease do i use for lubricating hte u-joints and stuff? i wanna make sure i take care of it this time so it doesnt happen again. PS - it actualyl did end up fixing that 'banging' noise when id shift and stuff, now it shifts really smooth. Jeep still makes some noises though, my front bumper has a few bolts on it that the sway bar collides with when connected, so every time i hit a speed bump it hits the bolts, one of them is like practically shaven off, the other is bent :O

gotcha. i need hte kind that hooks onto grease fittings and a needle gun for the other part. i know where is like a billion fittings on my lift kits parts and driveshaft componets. I got diff fluid, 80w 90, and im going to change my Manual Transmission fluid, whats the best stuff to use, not Penzoil Synchromesh but the other stuff - its like Redline somethin... maybe redline synthetic?
most people dont do it because they don't know that a front shaft can be used in the rear so it crosses nobodys mind. and of course if you ask a driveshaft shop about it they will tell you know because they want as much money out of you as they can.
you can still carry one spare though even with your tom woods shaft.

Probably a little too late but this should help someone in the future..

231 to 8.25, could wrong pinion angle hurt it that bad that it wouldnt fit?
at 6.5" you are around the limit where the front shaft will work.
with an sye you want the pinion angle pointing a degree or 2 below the t-case output.
i do know some grand cherokee front shafts are about an inch longer than the xj front shafts. might be worth going to a salvage yard and measuring some shafts.
