It's no trouble to tell why I named my Cherokee "Rustie".....

Is there a way I can rename her Patches?
I'd like to patch up or fill in or .. fix.. some of the holes and random rust spots. Is it worth it? Something I can do myself?

look up high clearance corners, you cut and fold the metal together with some seam sealer and pop rivets and your good.

if you feel like keeping that area you can work this into that area with some cutting of the cancer and put this in its place

I don't know much about the patching, but I like the paint job. Having two white jeeps, I know, WHITE IS BORING, but White with Mud and rust is just perfect!

White with mud was my old Cherokee too.

A lot of people cut off the dog leg area behind the rear wheel, I haven't seen too many patch it. You can either cut and rivet or if you plan on getting rid of it, find someone that can weld and then cut, fold up and weld.

If you want to keep your rockers, from the looks of that second pic, you will need to replace the whole thing as the rest doesn't look all that healthy. There's a bunch of companies that sell rocker replacement panels and you might be able to find OEM ones.

The other option with the rockers is to cut them out and weld in 2x4 or 2x6 square tube with a few legs that go to the frame. This way gives you rock sliders and let you keep your clearance. But it all comes down to how extreme you are with the Jeep and what you want to do. I personally like how rockers look so I plan on building rock sliders on my MJ that go below them.

Edit...Found some rocker panels for you if you're interested in that route.

Thanks guys!

Just on my phone now so I'll reply better in a bit.

Ive already made enough threads for one noon in one day, so I'm going to add my other issue into this one...

I just parked in my driveway. Left my drivers door open..popped the hood, and proceeded to check my brake fluid level. Then I noticed my lights and dash were flashing, as if I were hitting they key fob accidentally. My keys were on my seat, clear of everything. What on earth could have done that?

Hmm..now that I think about it, it did that the last time I popped my good as well. Is this some sort of feature I don't know about? I took a video but not sure how to share it from my phone to here.

Do you have an alarm system? If so, check to see if there is a safety switch on the hood (a little push button switch that is pushed down when the hood is closed and clicks up when the hood is open, kinda like the door switch for the interior lights).

They also make 1/2 & 1/4 quarter panels, a bout $35 to $40. Also rocker panels. Look through craigslist in your area, for someone to do it cheaper than body shops. In this economy there's all always out of work body men, Or someone does it as a side job.
