So i purchased my 96 cherokee about 4 months ago now, and from day one ive had start issues. On the first ocassion it was a nuetral saftey switch (no biggie). Now the thing wont even turn over, its not the battery ive tested it, no bad connections, I dont even get a starter tick when i try and jump it. So as it is my windows are down and theres absoloutly no power to my cherokee what so ever. Any ideas what it could be? I replaced my spark plugs yesterday and it was running better than ever up until i parked it a couple hours ago. I need some ideas please becuase the rain is supposed to come in tonight and i dont want my jeep to be completly filled with water. I dont think its the starter becuase i would still be getting window and door lock and radio power if it was. thanks

Check your starter relay/solenoid. With the key on try to jump the starter terminal.

 

Thanks guys i just looked at it again, and if you wait about a minute you can put the key in and the buzzer will come on and when you turn it to the on position your gages will come on but when you try and start it you can hear the starter tick just once then it goes dead. Do you think it could be a bad connection on the starter?

 

So i checked the connections to the starter and the alternator and everything was fine. And then i remebered you can only run so many accersorys off of a stock alternator without getting a high out put alternator so i disconected my 12 guage sub power wire and the thing started right up! Thanks for the help folks! Now i can wheel on!
