oem trans fluids

Can anyone tell me what brand and specs the oem used in 90? It's good to stick with the original make up.. I'm changing the filter

from the AW4 manual:

"Jeep or Mopar Mercon automatic transmission fluid <snip> Mopar Dexron II may also be used"

1996 owners manual:

Dexron III Mercon

This would be for the AW4 trans used behind the 4.0L I-6.

I agree.

Dex/Merc III compatible. Widely available. True licensed Dex/Merc is no longer available, so you have to get the "compatible" formulation. It will be fine.
